I felt like I was groping around in the dark when trying to buy a fiber laser. Many options but everything looks the same and there's a lot of uncertainty, foremost for me because it's a huge piece of equipment and I wouldn't know how to repair it if there were issues. What haunted me most was the prospect of having to pack and ship it back to the other side of the world should there be a problem. Still, SFX-LYXC advertised a warranty and online support, which put me at ease. Also, I did a lot of research but I didn't necessarily feel like I was getting more informed after a certain point. I'm sure all the fiber laser sellers are going to be able to send you a fiber laser, but communication and the _feeling_ that I wouldn't be stuck to fend for myself if there were any problems were important to me.It's now a little over a month since I clicked the submit order button, and I'm happy to share that everything went very smoothly! Below are some details of the journey. Not the most organized thoughts, but some personal narrative + info (because, well, I would have appreciated reading about someone's experience before I ordered).1) Delivery: It arrived way earlier than I expected and I received it intact despite my worrying about the rough handling that my other packages _always_ seem to have endured by the time they reach my apartment. It's a huge, heavy box. If you're a residential address like me, plan ahead and ask someone to help you move and unpack it! Very secure and included everything (and more! didn't know it would come with safety goggles, tools for adjusting the rotary, & extra rotary jaws) although the packing slip was not informative. Someone in my building saw the box and asked if I had received a snake haha.2) Communication/Delivery+Followup: The seller communicated generously and quickly through the cumbersome amazon contact-seller interface, and even sent photos of them packing the laser before shipping it. The kind sales managers, including Julie (who included a handwritten note and souveneir-like gift in my box!), answered my questions fairly quickly and comprehensively after I received and tested the laser. The package tracking wasn't the most helpful but I just waited and it came. I got a couple notifications on amazon (not emails, but notices shown when I go to track my order) that my package was stuck at customs in HK and advising me to call DHL, but I didn't do anything and it didn't seem to be a problem. Can't complain!3) Communication/Manual: I asked Julie about rotary axis use, and she sent back a helpful video that seemed to have been uploaded to youtube on the same day, seemingly just to address my question. It was pretty helpful but I think when it comes to using the EZCAD software, there is just a bit of a learning curve. I read the entire manual for EZCAD 2 in english and it was not helpful to me at all. I am a native english speaker and some parts seemed loosely translated and were difficult to decipher. That being said, there are a lot of online resources.4) Additional random notes:a) I got the rotary axis for jewelry, and wish I had inquired in advance about the different types of chucks/jaws for different applications. The default ones I received on the 80mm rotary are kind of rough/large for my needs, but this just a note about purchase planning rather than seller feedback.b) Make sure to turn the control card on before trying to install the driver! The driver installation instructions were easy to understand and easy to follow, once I turned the control card on for the laser itself.c) Having a slow computer sucks for using EZCAD. I was almost done with a really intricate and time consuming marking job, and at the end the program froze, stopping the laser.d) Wish there were some guidelines for storage and maintenance of the machine. Eg. if I have to clean the fans / how to clean different parts, if I should buy and use a dust collector when cutting metals, etc.e) When using fairly high power and frequency, I have found that miniscule changes in focus make a pretty noticeable difference in color of the mark, which I didn't foresee based on youtube videos of similar lasers. I was able to get some beautifully nuanced dark greens, blues, and purples on stainless steel (which was a pleasant surprise!) at high frequency and power settings, on a test grid. But it was very difficult to reproduce those effects in a separate session. This is, again, not really feedback about the product and seller, but a note for people learning how to use this thing.I'll add more if I think of anything else. Thank you, SFX-LYXC! I've only used the machine a few times, so I'm not familiar with it yet and will probably be in touch with more questions. I hope the support will continue.
